Monday Morning Design Wall 5/30/2011

Bless our veterans this Memorial Day and remember those who have served and gave their lives for the United States of America!! I have enjoyed a very busy weekend prior to heading out to the cemetery for Flags first thing this morning. I am working on my son's friend College Quilt and in case you cannot tell, he is heading off to California State University Chico this fall. I have sewn most of the letters on and am still working on filling in a couple of spots on the wall. I put the blue painters tape up so I would have a better visual of the size as I found it seemed to be growing when I first started. I will say that I am having a blast with the angles. I am working with Beyond The Block for ideas but working hard to keep this quilt just red and white!!

I also finished two of my blocks for my BOM with Cloth Carousel (I was a bit behind) so it feels good to catch up.

Monday Morning Design Wall 5/23/2011

Week of my dreams! Left home early Thursday morning and have been enjoying a wonderful sewing weekend at the Quilt Fever Quilt Retreat in Morro Bay all weekend. Here are just a couple of my projects that I started and will be working on for the next few weeks. I did fusable applique for the Chico State Wolverine symbol and was able to even get it sewn down.

I started a bali pop quilt using applique and mirror image leaves and will be sewing this together and finishing up borders this next week.

I was also able to begin Florabunda by Erin Russek and I am starting with the large center block. I have been wanting to start this one for quite a while and this seemed like the time and place!! So many projects....so little time.

Only one more block in my applique quilt completed, well that I can show anyway. The majority of my time was working on my Sutter Cancer Center Donation Quilt which I cannot show until the August reveal. Here is Block #11 for the applique quilt and I am working on block #12 right now. Hope to have it done by mid-week.

My weekend was not as sewing productive as I did have to spend several hours getting ready for my Quilt Retreat in Morro Bay. I am so excited about spending time just sewing and quilting with a group of people who also enjoy sewing and quilting. I am hoping to begin my next applique project so I am bringing it with just in case. I was mailed a selection of projects but everything looked so simple I thought I would just bring my own project.

Monday Morning Design Wall 5/9/2011

What a busy week. Due to home, family and work obligations I was only able to get one more block done for my applique project, although I was able to get all the other blocks sewn. I am getting excited about my quilt retreat in Morro Bay California in only 10 days and I will be spending some time over the next week and a half packing up my fabric and my sewing stuff.

I did get one more block done for a total of nine and I also started second applique project which I plan on machine sewing for speed!! I am really enjoying all my projects.

I am also planning on working on my Quilt Group project, we picked a noun, color and theme last week and mine is Mosiac, balloons and red. I like Red Mosiac Balloons and I hope to work on the design this week!!

APPLIQUE LOVE!! I am so enjoying my applique project and I am planning on starting my next one by the end of the week!! The fun of putting each block together and trying out new colors is so much fun. I am hoping to finish the remaining four blocks during the week.

I was able to get so much done this weekend but did learn one important thing, to wear jeans when I use the weed wacker to trim weeds in the side yard! Live and learn!

My husband and my two younger boys were off this weekend, they left Friday night (happy, happy, joy, joy) for the BSA Camporee in Capay Valley, California. Meanwhile I was home with only my 18 year old, as he had to go tuxedo shopping for the prom, my fabric and my willingness to work until midnight on the blocks. I only wish our Boy Scout Troop camped from Friday to Sunday every month!! The troop did win the Baden-Powell Award for the 4th year in a row at Camporee, with my 13 year old on the winning team for the cooking competition and my 16 year old participating in the Order of the Arrow activities. All around a great weekend.
