Monday Morning Design Wall 11/1/2010

Enjoyed a very busy week and an even busier weekend!! Love Halloween but the activities with the family did limit my ability to get to the sewing table. Enjoying the World Series game this Sunday, (GO GIANTS) again limited my time spent with my sewing machine. I did manage to take my Mariners Compass Quilt out and hang it up so I can evaluate the borders for this quilt. The main squares are 12 inches and the smaller squares are 6 inches. I used many of my hand dyed fabric in this quilt and I am thinking about using the blue for the border but also the bright green in small stripes. Any suggestions??

Monday Morning Design Wall 10/25/2010

Was so busy this week between work, kids and my husband who has been sick for three weeks with the flu. Just a lot of extra work when you do everything yourself!! I was able to get the borders on my Kashmir Quilt, which turned out perfect!!! The mitered borders were just the right finishing touch. The bottom view is an idea I just started working on using up my remaining left over fabric from Kashmir and cutting everything in 2.5 inch diamonds with some 4.5 inch diamonds thrown in for fun!! Now I need to square it up (maybe) and then add a border or two!

Design Wall Monday 10/18/2010

Had a wonderful week and was able to spend a full day at the Pacific Coast International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara CA on Friday! I was so inspired by the beautiful works of art and I am overwhelmed and cannot wait to start my own award winning quilt!! The top quilt is finished and compeltely hand quilted but I added some sparkle to the top after the show! The bottom top is just missing the borders which I will get on this week.

Monday Morning Design Wall 10/11/2010

After working one of my longest weeks ever, spending 13 hours at work on Friday, working more on Saturday and for 7 hours on Sunday, I still managed to finish off one quilt top and start another!! The borders on the pinwheel quilt were simple so they did not take much time and I am looking forward to handquilting them with a beautiful feather. The beautiful batik square quilt is all ready to be sewn into blocks (some are done and on the wall) but the rest have to be sewn. This is a kit I purchased at a wonderful little quilt shop in a small country town in northern Illinois called Touch of Amish when I visted the area in August. Lovely shop!! The owner designed her own BOM with representations of each state. Would have loved to have joined but the commute would kill me!!

Monday Morning Design Wall 10/4/2010

Pinwheels, pinwheels, pinwheels. I had a Moda Layer Cake in these colors and decided to branch out from my normal batiks and do something different. I will use red and white for the rails and corner stone blocks with a nice red border!!I love the way these seem to move!

Monday Design Wall 9/28/2010

Another week and another small sampler made from my cutting down of my larger quilt. This one is a bit more green but still looks pretty good! I am working on finishing up a few projects that I need to quilt/reorganize so I can free up my space and mind to do some designing in the near future. Happy Monday! The top picture is the entire larger quilt that I cut the smaller sampler from!

Making Changes

I made a huge quilt, using this design but when I was finished the quilt was out of proportion. The quilt was far longer then it was wider and I just could not move past this issue!! After my daughter requested that I work on this quilt over the summer I finally got around to removing a bit of the quilt and used my sections removed to make a wall hanging, so far just one, but I will be making another one for my daughter, as this is one of her favorite quilts!! My motto: Never let anything go to waste!
