Monday Morning Design Wall 7/11/2011

Nothing like being deep into the summer, having a really hot weekend but still spending far too much time with a hot iron, warm sewing machine and other hot things!! I will say it is easier to leave the iron on when it cold outside but then, when it is cold, I really enjoy hand quilting. Keeps me warm! I completed another Florabunda block and just love how this one turned out. I also made great stides on my Sutter Cancer Quilt this weekend but need to step it up as it is due in the begining of August!! Yikes, where did the time go!

Monday Morning Design Wall 7/4/2011

Have a wonderful Fourth of July today!! Happy Birthday to the US!! I had a very productive week working on my quilt projects as the majority of my family was out of town. They have returned very sunburned and eaten alive by bugs but had a wonderful time on the Outland Adventure Camp at Seabase in the Florida Keys. I was also able to ship off the youngest to spend the rest of the summer at Boy Scout Camp working as a counselor, great life for a boy. No electronics, television or video games, just work and play in the great outdoors. I am working on another applique block and got hooked on a paper piece project passed on to me by a friend. I am having a ball making my Quilt Fairy Godmothers!!

Happy Birthday to my 14 year old son today, my baby is growing up. I hope he, his two older brothers and my wonderful husband, are enjoying themselves at Seabase Boy Scout Camp in the Florida Keys!! I was able to get quite a bit done today and I am hoping to have the top of the CAL quilt done by the time my CAL freshman son returns from Florida. So much work, so little time.

I also finished another Florabunda blocks and just love the way it turned out!!

Well, since I have had two weeks to work on projects, I was able to get quite a bit done on several projects. I am working on the setting solution for my Applique Challenge Quilt by making far to many half square triangles than I like but the look is great. I am trying to get to the point where I can work on the applique boarder and be finished!! I am going to use the flowers from most of the blocks to do the boarder and I cannot wait to work on it.

I have also made progress on my Florabunda quilt, finishing up two blocks this week. I hope I can get more done next week but time will be tight.

Ah, the anniversery of D-Day, or Operation Overlord. For me, not a bad week. I feel like I have spent the past three weeks working on my sewing machine day and night but I have accomplished quite a bit. I am almost done with Block 2 of Florabunda, have completed all my blocks on my Bali Pops Leaf Quilt and just need to put them together and am just minutes away from finishing up Spencer M's Chico State Quilt.

I have completely scrapped my Sutter Cancer Center Donation Quilt and decided that what I had made is just a mess and the more I try to fix it, the messier it gets. I need to start over, from scratch!! I found something that will be simple to pull together, I have the fabric and I hope to have the top done by next weekend.

Bless our veterans this Memorial Day and remember those who have served and gave their lives for the United States of America!! I have enjoyed a very busy weekend prior to heading out to the cemetery for Flags first thing this morning. I am working on my son's friend College Quilt and in case you cannot tell, he is heading off to California State University Chico this fall. I have sewn most of the letters on and am still working on filling in a couple of spots on the wall. I put the blue painters tape up so I would have a better visual of the size as I found it seemed to be growing when I first started. I will say that I am having a blast with the angles. I am working with Beyond The Block for ideas but working hard to keep this quilt just red and white!!

I also finished two of my blocks for my BOM with Cloth Carousel (I was a bit behind) so it feels good to catch up.

Week of my dreams! Left home early Thursday morning and have been enjoying a wonderful sewing weekend at the Quilt Fever Quilt Retreat in Morro Bay all weekend. Here are just a couple of my projects that I started and will be working on for the next few weeks. I did fusable applique for the Chico State Wolverine symbol and was able to even get it sewn down.

I started a bali pop quilt using applique and mirror image leaves and will be sewing this together and finishing up borders this next week.

I was also able to begin Florabunda by Erin Russek and I am starting with the large center block. I have been wanting to start this one for quite a while and this seemed like the time and place!! So many projects....so little time.
