Monday Morning Design Wall 10/19/2015

 Good Morning, it has been quite a while since I posted due to being very busy these past few months.  I graduated two children, college and high school, sent one off for his year abroad in Asia and the youngest left for his freshman year of college.   As a new empty nester, I took on a more challenging job and have been working quite a bit.  I have completed many of my blocks for the P3Designs BOM for 2015.   I am almost caught up on these, having just downloaded and in the process of preparing the October blocks.  I am hoping to have my design wall cleaned up and ready to put all the blocks out on the wall by the end of the month. 

I did cut all the side triangles and extra pieces for my Sycamore Hill's BOM from 2014.  Still working on the layout as I don't want it to be too matchy-matchy but there are two of every block so I need to mix it up.  Check out Judy's website for other great design walls. 

Monday Morning Design Wall 5/4/2015

Good Morning!  I finally started the 2015 Block of the Month for P3Designs.  I finished the first two months, blocks 1-10 and am working on 11-25 over the next few weeks.  The blocks are very small and easy so they go together pretty quickly.  The catch is that you make one block with the basket and a second flower for each block to be used later.  Remember to check out Judy's blog and see the rest of the design walls.

Monday Morning Design Wall 4/6/2015

Good Morning!  I had a very productive weekend.  I made myself a very quiltey garment bag complete with inside pocket!!  It turned out very nice and I just love it.  I made one for my daughter for her birthday also!

I also worked on my Linen Lady project and am binding the unfinished edge of my cut work lace.  I quilted the back ground fabric and once I finish the binding for the inside I will bind the outside!

Monday Morning Design Wall 3/16/2015

 

 Good Morning!  I am working on settings for my applique quilt.  I finally finished the last two blocks in this pattern.  There are 16 blocks but I did each twice but shrunk them by 50% so the are smaller.  So now I need a setting that uses 32 blocks.  A work in progress!  Any suggestions are welcome.  Remember to check out Judy's blog and see the rest of the blocks. 

Monday Morning Design Wall 3/9/2015

Good Morning!   I have been on a Paper Piecing binge lately and after finishing my 120 Wild and Goosey blocks I started a few 3.5 inch pineapple blocks.  Just for fun!  They took the entire weekend to make the first 14 but they were fun.  I am thinking about making a few more.  Please remember to check on Judy's wall to see the rest of the design walls!

Monday Morning Design Wall 3/2/2015 Wild and Goosey Weekend

Good Morning!  I have had a blast all weekend making my Wild and Goosey Blocks from Bonnie Hunter.  I love using up my scraps and they have turned out so well.  I am not normally a paper piecing person but this was the perfect week/weekend and I finished my first 100.  I might make 40 more but I think that will be enough!!

Monday Morning Design Wall 2/23/2015

Good Morning!!  Spent the weekend adding my detail to a block of  Forever Blooming.  I love the french knots!!  Hoping to get to the rest of the blocks done while I work on preparing the border applique pieces.   I also had time to get to a few Wild and Goosey blocks, from the Quiltmaker magazine, April 2013 I think.   These are 3.5 inch paper paper pieced blocks.  Trying to get through my scrap basket!!   Remember to check out Judy's blog and see the rest of the design walls!

Monday Morning Design Wall 1/19/15

Good Morning!!  Finally, finally, finally, I have prepped Block 8 of P3Design 2014 BOM, Forever Blooming!  YES!!  I only have to sew it down and now I can start the border!   I still have to go back and do all the embroidery on each block but that is I labor of love so I am looking forward to it!  Love how all my blocks turned out and so looking forward to trying out different colors for my border applique.  I also finished the top of Grand Illusion Mystery by Bonnie Hunter!  I will be getting it ready to quilt today so I am very excited!   Happy Monday all, remember to check out Judy's blog for the rest of the design walls.

Monday Morning Design Wall 12/15/2014 Ultimate Stencil FUN!!

Good Morning!  I have had the best week, spending two days up in Paradise, California at the Morning Star Quilts with my favorite teacher, Cindy Needham!  I had purchased her Ultimate Stencil back in September but had not had the courage to even open up the envelope.  So I brought up a quilt that I wanted to design a quilting pattern for some large empty squares and just DID IT.   There is a very nice handbook that comes with the stencils so it is almost foolproof!




 I came up with a nice pattern and even decided on how to accent the blocks.  I left in the registration marks that I used to draw the blocks.     I am now trying to figure out how to quilt my borders, using both the stencils, see below.  I think I like the look of the square pattern and will do something with straight lines.

Monday Morning Design Wall 11/24/2014

Good Morning, my design wall is a bit of a mess as I have two applique projects at the moment.  Almost done with both projects and looking forward to spending some quality time sewing this Thanksgiving weekend.  

On top is Sycamore Hill BOM, which I shrank by 50% and am doing two of each block.  Looking forward to working on my setting solutions for Sycamore Hill as soon as I finish the last few blocks. 

The bottom is P3Designs BOM, while beautiful, seems to take forever for each block!  I have every block done but #8.   Remember to check out the other design walls on Judy's blog!

Monday Morning Design Wall 10/6/2014

 Good Morning!  I had an incredible weekend finally putting together P3 Designs BOM Forever Blooming Block 4 which contains close to 300 pieces....it was a full weekend of putting pieces together and gluing them down!  Turned out very well and I live the colors! 

I spent last weekend at Cindy Needham's Design Workshop in Sacramento and worked on my quilting design on the Grape Escape quilt.  The feather circles the entire quilt in a dark purple and just makes the colors pop!  So much fun.   Remember to check out Judy's wall and see the rest of the beautiful design walls!!

Design Wall Monday 9/15/2014

 Good Morning!  I finally updated my design wall and have put up my current projects!!    I am working on the Sycamore Hills Block of the Month (in 50% size) and doing two of each because I am insane!   This BOM is a lot of fun, pretty simple and and looks just fantastic with my batiks!

I have also started P3 Designs BOM and have the first three done,currently working on #4, which might take a while as there are over 250 pieces!!!

Design Wall Monday 8/25/2014

 Good Morning, my design wall is filling with another project so I thought I would post today!  I had a great weekend and was able to spend a day with my favorite machine quilting teacher, Cindy Needham, marking my Grape and Leaves quilt.  It is marked in white and has a lot of feathers!!  I worked on my applique blocks for the rest of the weekend and also spent some time with my Hexi Quilt, as it is almost sewn together.   So many projects, so little time!!

The applique blocks are from Sycamore Hill BOM but the BOM is 14.5 blocks and I shrunk them by 50%, so they will finish at 7 inches.  Therefore I am making two of each.   I am making them scrappy, using a selection of colors from my stash.  Remember to look at all the other blogs on Judy's wall to see the exciting projects from around the globe. 

Monday Morning Design Wall 7/7/2014

 Good Morning All!  Enjoyed a wonderful long weekend and a great 4th of July.  I was able to begin quilting my latest quilt.  I made this top years ago but almost completely quilted now!  I love finishing up projects and getting them done!!

I also completed the latest block for Sycamore Hill Quilt's BOM.  I love the look of the little pieces.  I have so many summer plans, so many projects to start/finish that I am hoping for the best, which would be 50% of what I hope to accomplish!    Here is my list:

1: Finish up Hexi quilt (sew together the long rows)
2: Start P3Design's 2014 BOM
3: Start Esther Aliu's 1790 Marriage Coverlet
4: Finish up Alex Anderson's Grape Escape, sew down/pin and quilt.
5: Quilt Celtic Solstice (pinned and ready to quilt).

Monday Morning Design Wall 6/23/2014

Good Morning!  I finally finished my Batik Baltimore Album in time to enter it in the Winter's Outdoor Quilt show and won Viewer's Choice.  I had a blast and also entered my Flower Garden Quilt and my Double Wedding Ring.  I am so looking forward to working on other projects and starting new applique quilts!  Remember to look at Judy's blog for the rest of the design walls.

Monday Morning Design Wall 6/9/2014

 Good Morning!!  Last week, while surfing the net in a few minutes of free time, I found the cutest applique pattern.   This is called Sycamore Rose and is a wonderful BOM.  All the past patterns are there and it is a 14 inch finished block.  I thought that was a bit big and shrunk my down by 50% to finish at 7 inches.  I love the size and since they are so cute and small, will be making two of each block in a different color.  one duplicate is already done!

I was also able to remove the old faucets from the bathroom sink and replace them in only 4 hours of hard work and two trips to the hardware store!!   Yippee a successful weekend.  Remember to check out Judy's blog and see all the other design walls.

Monday Morning Design Wall 5/5/2014

 Good Morning!  I had a very productive weekend, as I am frantically getting ready for a a machine quilting class with Cindy Needham later this month.  I need to have many, many quilts ready to go, pinned and hopefully ESS'ed (Every Stinking Seam) sewn so I can just sew for the entire time....sew like a maniac.  I also want to make use of all her wonderful quilting templates to mark as many quilt tops as possible.  If you are interested in machine quilting, I highly recommend Cindy's Craftsy Class or better yet, take her class in person!!

 I finally put the borders on the Erin Russek BOM I did quite a while ago and it has turned out quite nicely.  I also spend the entire weekend working on my Baltimore Album, I am so close to finishing the background quilting on the body of the quilt that I can almost feel being done!!  Excitement!!
