YES! The last of 10 Hawaiian blocks is completed! Now I just need to figure out a setting solution for the blocks (see below). I am still undecided if I go ahead and make two more just to have 12 (easier to set) or just work with the 10. Hummm....decisions, decisions.
I also started the Cloth Carousel Applique Block of the Month, which is My Whimsical Quilt Garden by Becky Goldsmith & Linda Jenkins. Can you believe that the first block for the BOM was Block 5?? I can't start on Block 5! I need to do them in order! I finished Block 1 today and have block two started and am ready to get going on #3, #4 and #5!!
Order and sense makes me happy so starting from #1 makes me happy! I will strive to catch up and be on Block 5 when needed! Here are all the blocks on my wall so you can see the challenge!! Thanks for looking and check out all the rest of the design walls on Judy's blog.
Words just can't say how gorgeous that Hawaiian quilt is. WOW!!!
ReplyDeleteYour applique blocks are beautiful, I love your fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteI like the setting of those 10 blocks and they are just beautiful. What a fabulous quilt this will be.
ReplyDeleteTen blocks is the perfect number for a medallion quilt. Set 2 block on top, and 2 on the bottom with 3 blocks on each side creating a large center where you can put a fabulous applique medallion block!
ReplyDeleteThat was my thought also but just to pick the medallion!! looking at my books now!
DeleteBreathtaking.
ReplyDeleteThose hawaiian blocks are beautiful! And I'm with you, making a block of the month out of order would totally make me crazy. The block you did make is really adorable.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Hawaiian Blocks finish. I got inspiration on settings when I googled "Hawaiian Quilts" for a project I made years back. All the blocks are wonderful. Your whimiscal project is adorable too...they should have renumbered the blocks...order is everything in my world too! Sandi
ReplyDeleteYour Hawaiian blocks are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at doing the blocks in order....I feel the same way.

Your Hawaiian quilt is going to be wonderful. I would use the setting you have on the wall and then create a pineapple vine around them for the border. I would have the vine dip into the setting triangles to fill the spaces and pull the blocks together. Of course I just like to make more work for other people. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove that idea!
DeleteI love the on point setting! I think this last block is my very most favorite of your fabulous work here - it's red and white.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have an awesome quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love your applique...I need to work more on doing an applique quilt, I love handwork but the applique seems to really slow me down. Your quilts are going to be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour Hawaiian blocks are gorgeous. And, yes, I can see why you want to make 2 more. But take a look at the book Circle of Nines. (Connecting Threads used to carry it and you can see all the designs in a book at their site.) You could put one on the back and then use any of the design ideas in the book... just a thought... although then you'd have the horrible time of making a decision on what block could become back art or a pillow to go with it.... just sayin'
ReplyDeleteWOW! Your hawaiian quilt will be stunning!
