Monday Morning Design Wall 9/17/2012

Not too much new on the design wall this week but I am working away on my Hawaiian Quilt with a twist.  I enjoy hand quilting but I wish the cooler temperatures would start already.  Would love to see temperatures in the low 80's or high 70's when hand quilting as the temperatures in the high 90's make it a bit warm with the weight of the quilt!!   I am finishing my Strip Exchange section for my Spring Chicks meeting but I cannot show it in case any of my group is checking out the blogs!!  I will show it next week.  The surprise is great and worth the wait!!!!  Remember to check out the other walls on Judy's blog!!

 

Monday Morning Design Wall 9/10/2012

Another productive week, I finished up Mimi's Bloomers Block 8 this weekend and below are all the blocks together!  I think this is coming together very nicely!  It will be a great quilt.  I did redo my Miss Kyra borders (for the third time) and I am much happier with the overall look.  See the picture below.  I am planning on adding some applique flowers to the blank areas, just like the center of the quilt.  It was worth the work to do the borders again!!  I love the look of this quilt and the extra bit of applique will be quick and will add just the right touch!!!  Check out the rest of the design walls on Judy's blog. 

Monday Morning Design Wall 9/3/2012

Well, it was a busy week  but I managed to rip off the borders from my Miss Kyra quilt and fix them.  The more I looked at the other version, the more I was sure I had to change it.  But I made ANOTHER mistake, I centered the Dresden plates by folding the borders to determine the spacing.  I did not consider the flowers applique and did not match up the half Dresden plates correctly.  I have to rip off the borders again and sew them back on AGAIN.....deep breath!!  I was so hoping to spend the day tomorrow getting some flowers ready to fill in the blank spaces between the half Dresden plates and on the corners.    I think I will take tomorrow off this quilt, just let it hang on the design wall and work on another project!!  Sometimes stepping back is the right thing to do!  I might need an intervention on this quilt top.......  Remember to check out all the other design walls on Judy's blog.

Monday Morning Design Wall 8/27/2012

Ok, I worked really hard last week and finished block 5 of P3Designs Mystery BOM.  Below are the rest of the blocks.  Now I need to start the alternate blocks and borders.  Whew, these blocks are incredibly beautiful but so much work!  They look so hard and it takes me a bit to work up the courage to get to work on them.  The work is worth it, these all turned out so well!!    I had a great week, enjoyed a visit from my daughter and her boyfriend and now looking forward to the work week.  Don't forget to check out Judy's blog and see all the other design walls. 

Monday Morning Design Wall 8/20/2012

  Happy Monday!!  I have all my Mimi's Bloomers blocks up on my wall.  The latest one was posted on Friday and I have yet to get to it!  It will be this week so that will be fun.  I also finished my Miss Kyra top, also by Erin Russek.  I do love her designs but I did switch up the border a bit adding a few more Dresden Plates. I worked on the borders, and only the borders, for 8 straight hours on Sunday.  It was a DO OR DIE TRYING day, either I finished the borders or I scrapped them and started over!!  I am not unhappy with it but I think I need to look at it hanging on the wall to get use to the corners!  I am planning on hand quilting the half Dresden Plate bocks into the empty border spots to keep the theme....I like the idea of that!!   On to more projects that I can finish up, I am hoping to get so much more done over the next month and clean up some of these UFO's!!! Monday Morning Design Wall 8/13/2012

Not too much done this week, other then the second boarder for my Baltimore Album Quilt, two down, two to go!!  I am going to get those last two done, hopefully, by the end of the month.  I just need to keep on top of the project.  I enjoyed hanging the two borders up just so I could see if they are mostly identical and they seem to be very close.   Don't forget to check out the other design walls on Judy's blog. 

Monday Morning Design Wall 8/6/2012

This weekend was Finish Up Weekend.  I finished up my first applique quilt, which I had finished hand quilting several weeks ago but never got to the binding!  Yippee, so good to have it done.  I also finished another Mimi's Bloomers block,  but I am unhappy as my dark purple looks the same as my dark blue.  I think I will have to switch one of the heart out for another color....just which one??  Red would work but it seems to look like the dark pink I already have there.   Decisions, decisions.    I also made progress on two other projects, just little steps but there was progress!!
